Sinéad Browne

If you had to explain your job to a child how would you describe what you do?

Sinéad Browne: Well, I guess because I started a new job in AGCS just recently, right now my job is building a jigsaw puzzle. I'm trying to understand how the organization fits together and to achieve this I'm spending a lot of time talking to staff to help me fix those pieces together.

What do you like most about your job?

Browne: Working with people. I enjoy spending time with my staff to help them understand the strategy of the organization and how our functions work in order to drive that strategy forward. Coupled with that, I just love seeing the progress that we make in the organization and how people develop with that progress.

What is the one thing you would advise women to do if they aspire to be top managers?

Browne: My own career has been characterized by taking side steps and lateral moves. Development is not always about an upwards promotion, and side moves really give you the opportunity to learn more about the business and therefore build your own CV in doing that.
