Kamesh Goyal appointed as new regional CEO for Middle East

With effect on April 1, 2008, Kamesh Goyal will become the new regional CEO for the Middle East and North Africa. Kamesh Goyal will continue to be Country Manager for India and CEO of Bajaj Allianz Life Insurance. The appointment of Kamesh Goyal is subject to the approval of the relevant regulatory bodies.

Allianz has established the Middle East as its third major growth region, in addition to Asia Pacific and New Europe. The regional unit, with headquarters in Bahrain, also consists of Allianz entities in Egypt, India, Jordan, Lebanon, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Sri Lanka.

Werner Zedelius, Member of the Board of Management of Allianz SE, responsible for the Middle East region, in addition to Asia Pacific and New Europe said: "I believe our Middle East region, where Allianz enjoys a very good reputation, will benefit from Kamesh’s know-how and expertise in managing India as the biggest growth driver of the region."

In addition, Abdul Rahman Tolefat will become the new CEO for Allianz Takaful Bahrain.

Werner Zedelius says: "I’m delighted that Abdul Rahman Tolefat is joining Allianz. He possesses extensive knowledge of the takaful market in the Middle East." Prior to his appointment, Tolefat worked for the Central Bank of Bahrain where he was responsible for the development of Islamic finance in Bahrain.

Sam Ghosh, the current regional CEO for the Middle East and North Africa, will give up his position in order to assume an assignment outside of the Allianz Group. Allianz thanks him for his contributions and wishes him all the best for his future endeavors.
