Allianz becomes a partner of contemporary art at The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA)

Allianz is proud to extend its arts and culture partnership portfolio by becoming the exclusive corporate sponsor of the contemporary art exhibitions at The Museum of Modern Art in New York.

“The Museum of Modern Art is a strong partner that exemplifies our belief that there is no progress without taking risks and venturing into uncharted territory,” said Oliver Bäte, CEO of Allianz SE. “We’re pleased to help bring this idea to life by celebrating and supporting the work of contemporary artists who have the courage to challenge expectation and convention.”

Founded in 1929 as an educational institution, MoMA is dedicated to being the foremost museum of modern and contemporary art in the world, welcoming millions of visitors every year.

“We are happy to have Allianz as a new sponsor and appreciate our partner’s interest in contemporary art,” said Glenn Lowry, Director of The Museum of Modern Art. “The Museum has a tradition of encouraging the conversation between the past and the present, the established and the experimental, which is demonstrated through a majority of contemporary practice.”

Contemporary artists dare to constantly push the boundaries within which art is created, and Allianz’ engagement in contemporary art underlines its interest in supporting risk-taking, change and the exploration of new ideas.

The partnership with MoMA includes Allianz as the lead sponsor of several of the Museum’s contemporary art exhibitions. The featured works will be on view from June 2016 to February 2017 and comprise Nan Goldin’s The Ballad of Sexual Dependency (1979-2004), Teiji Furuhashi’s Lovers (1994), and Tony Oursler’s Imponderable (2015–16). The sponsorship also includes the special exhibition of Bouchra Khalili’s The Mapping Journey Project (2008–11) which began in April and will be on view through October 2016.
