Allianz among top ten of most sustainable businesses

The CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project) honors Allianz’s sustainable environmental management by ranking the company among the top ten of the global 500 in its annual report.

Recognizing the successful environmental management, CDP named Allianz leading insurance company regarding its disclosure of climate change information, comprehensive climate change and emission reduction strategies.

Allianz’s score allows it to be successfully included in the global Climate Disclosure Leadership Index (CDLI).This is the third consecutive year that Allianz has been included.

Paul Simpson, chief executive officer of CDP, comments: “Companies that score highly enough to be included in the Climate Disclosure Leadership Index are responding to the call for greater corporate climate accountability. They have demonstrated leading practice for the measurement of greenhouse gas emissions and energy use and transparency of their climate change strategy.”

According to the CDP, companies included in the CDLI demonstrate a high level of understanding and disclosure of climate change-related risks and opportunities as well as a high level of commitment and strategic focus. In addition, Allianz demonstrates a clear commitment to manage its greenhouse gas emissions and takes action on climate change.

With an annual reduction of 3.7 percent, Allianz just barely missed the Climate Performance Leadership Index (CPLI) which had the cut off of 4 percent this year. Since 2006, Allianz managed to reduce its carbon emissions by 35.6 %. The company's shares in three carbon projects in Kenya, India, and Indonesia helped to reach the goal of carbon neutrality in 2012.
