Over the past decades, more and more stakeholders have become interested in companies’ impact on the environment and the societal development in general. These “non-financials” play a huge part in the long-term financial success of a company.
The Dow Jones Sustainability Assessment is one of the most important sustainability ratings and assesses a company’s extra-financial performance in the areas ranging from corporate governance, risk management, human rights, supply chain management, environmental footprint, human resources, to corporate citizenship and philanthropy. The DJSI exists since 1999. Allianz has been included in the DJSI since 2000 with top ranking positions. In 2015, Allianz was named as one of the sustainability leaders in the insurance sector again.
We were especially recognized in the areas of Risk Detection, Principles for Sustainable Insurance, Stakeholder Engagement, Environmental Reporting, our Code of Conduct and Compliance as well as Brand Management.
Our efforts to integrate the UN Principles for Sustainable Insurance into our core business, our expertise in managing emerging risk as well as our systematic stakeholder engagement were especially recognized.
„As a long-term insurer and investor, sustainability has been a part of our business from the beginning,” says Nadine Tschauner, Head of CSR at Allianz, ”External recognition of our efforts through ratings such as the DJSI further motivate us to continue our journey into a sustainable future.”
