Nobel Prize for Allianz Distinguished Visitor Robert J. Shiller

The Nobel Prize for economics this year went to the Allianz Distinguished Visitor Prof. Robert J. Shiller. The American academic was a visiting professor at the American Academy in Berlin in 2012 through Allianz’s program for promoting relations between Germany and the United States.

Robert Shiller, who is a professor at Yale University, received the Nobel Prize for economics together with two other American researchers. Their work showed how capital markets follow clear rules over the long term. Last November as part of the Allianz Distinguished Visitors program, Shiller drew an audience of 250 people for his lecture entitled "Finance and the Good Society". In it he made the case for a democratization of financial markets and explained how important financial issues are in everyday life.

"We congratulate Prof. Shiller for this recognition of the highest order. Over many yearsn he has made a name for himself worldwide as an academic and a thought leader," says Wolfgang Ischinger, Allianz Global Head of Group Public Policy and Economic Research. "We are especially pleased that at this important point in his career we were able to win him as an Allianz Distinguished Visitor and wish him continued success in the future."
