Allianz is leading the insurance industry for carbon disclosure and performance

With a score of 97 out of 100, Allianz is again listed in the Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index (CDLI). Allianz is recognized for giving clear consideration to the business issues related to climate change and Allianz’ exposure to climate-related risks and opportunities as well as strong internal data management practices for the measurement of greenhouse gas emissions and energy use.

“Floods in Australia, severe storms in the United States, cold waves in Eastern Europe: the impact of global warming is undeniable and poses a risk to the insurance industry. Allianz has a comprehensive climate change strategy to contribute to a low-carbon economy through our internal operations, investment activities and financial services offered to our clients”, says Dr. Armin Sandhövel, CEO of Allianz Climate Solutions, the Group’s competence center for climate change. “Allianz is strongly committed to a low-carbon economy. We continue to reduce the environmental impact of our own operations and will be carbon-neutral from this year on through our own investments in carbon projects such as the REDD project in Kenya. Allianz has also invested EUR 1.3bn in renewable energy projects. But, more importantly, we support our clients by offering now more than 80 green products and services that mitigate the risks of climate change or help manage their impact.”

Allianz is once again included in the global Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index (CDLI) and newly entered the Carbon Performance Leadership Index (CPLI). Companies included in the CDLI demonstrate a high level of understanding and disclosure of climate change-related risks and opportunities as well as a high level of commitment and strategic focus. In addition, Allianz demonstrates a clear commitment to manage its greenhouse gas emissions and takes action on climate change.
