Allianz Group is taking a stand against youth unemployment

Five major companies are actively committed to sustainable apprenticeships and the fight against youth unemployment. Allianz Group, BMW Group, Infineon Technologies AG, Lufthansa Group, and Siemens AG are jointly supporting basecamp Munich to help JOBLINGE achieve its long-term goal. By 2030, the non-profit initiative wants to support 100,000 young people in finding an apprenticeship. With the help of this partnership, the newly opened basecamp Munich at Stiglmaierplatz, an innovative place of learning and exchange, will make it easier for young people to enter the professional world because a particularly high number of people, especially in the first few months, drop out of their training. In addition, basecamp Munich will be a central place for everyone involved in the topic of training. JOBLINGE has been highly successful in supporting young people on their way to an apprenticeship since 2008. With the support of our experts, over 80%of all participants in the JOBLINGE program make the leap into professional life.
Together against youth unemployment and the shortage of skilled workers

In Germany, 630,000 young people under the age of 25 are currently unable to find an apprenticeship, training program, or a job. At the same time, almost 70,000 apprenticeships remain unfilled and more than a quarter of apprentices drop out prematurely[IK1] . This is where basecamp Munich comes in. In cooperation with five major companies—Allianz Group, BMW Group, Infineon Technologies AG, Lufthansa Group, and Siemens AG—the non-profit initiative JOBLINGE is creating a place to intensify training support and reduce the number of dropouts. The aim is to support young people on their way to a successful professional future. The focus is on apprenticeships in the future-oriented fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

”The dual vocational training is an essential pillar of our economy. Basecamp Munich provides structural support for all apprentices and training companies to shape personal future prospects and secure investments in skilled workers. Basecamp Munich shows how important these values are for the economy: with the close link between charitable work and the most renowned economic powers in the region, we are realizing the blueprint for the project of sustainable training,” says Kadim Tas, CEO JOBLINGE.

Qualified training support in a motivating place of shared learning

Basecamp Munich is being created as a place of learning and encounter for young people without an apprenticeship, for apprentices in need of support, and for experts from the fields of politics, education, and pedagogy who work in the transition from school to work. In a modern co-working environment covering more than 600 m2 in a central location, young people learn in a motivating community and develop skills that go beyond everyday work. These include both technical knowledge in the STEM subjects and interdisciplinary and basic skills in the form of exam preparation, tutoring, application coaching, workshops on conflict management, and financial education.
The five companies are involved in a wide range of ways. In addition to their financial support, they focus on the area in which they are particularly knowledgeable—the training itself. Experts and volunteers from the companies support the young people with practical advice, coaching, and sharing valuable and practical knowledge from their own training and professional experience. At the same time, they establish a network of contacts within the companies. In addition, events such as training fairs and round tables also take place regularly.

JOBLINGE has already successfully established the concept of the basecamp in Frankfurt, Berlin, Mannheim, and Essen. In Munich, JOBLINGE is setting up the basecamp for the first time with the active involvement of major industrial partners—a blueprint for the nationwide success of innovative concepts in the field of training support.

”I am very pleased to be working with our partner companies and the non-profit initiative JOBLINGE to give young people a real chance by helping them enter the professional world and thus sustainably train the next generation of skilled workers. Especially in the STEM subjects, joint investment is essential to create career opportunities for those who would otherwise remain under the educational radar—but also to advance our own digital transformation. Together, we are sending a strong signal in favor of a sustainable education for the next generation and want to enable a promising future for them," says Bettina Dietsche, Chief People and Culture Officer, Allianz Group.
