CEO Oliver Bäte is “Personality of the Year” in German Diversity Award

Oliver Bäte has won the German Diversity Award in the category “Personality of the Year” 2022,  representing Allianz`s unwavering engagement and the commitment of our CEO on diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I).

Oliver is an avid supporter of DE&I, both as a personal concern and as a high strategic priority in managing the company. The DE&I strategy is firmly anchored in the business as a core component of our talent strategy, integral part of product design and customer communications. Allianz has set ambitious global targets for our five core diversity topics to be achieved by the end of 2024. Importantly, we measure and discuss progress on a quarterly basis and hold our top managers accountable.

At the start of Oliver´s tenure as CEO in 2015, there was not a single female CEO in the Allianz Group; today, there are nine – six appointed in 2021 alone.

As a signatory of the Valuable 500, the UN Women's Empowerment Principles and UN LGBT Standards, Oliver was an essential driver of Allianz's commitment to diversity adding to our other public commitments such as UN charters, diversity indices and Equal Pay & EDGE certification.

Our diversity and inclusion efforts are very important to our employees and our work environment. But they are also important for our business. The Edelman trust barometer underlines that 69% of employees want to belong to a diverse company with a positive societal impact. It is the basis of an engaged workforce, and employee empowerment is important to build trust in a company, state 85% of investors. And with raised trust comes a four times higher willingness to invest.
