Allianz ranks #1 in the 2026 Evident AI Index for Insurance, leading 30 global insurers

Allianz has been ranked #1 in the Evident AI Index for Insurance 2026, outperforming 30 of the world's leading insurers. The ranking confirms Allianz's leadership in adopting and scaling artificial intelligence across the global insurance industry.

The annual Index, published by AI benchmarking platform Evident, assesses insurers across four dimensions: Talent, Innovation, Leadership, and Transparency, providing an independent, outside-in view of AI maturity in the sector.

Commenting on the results, Alexandra Mousavizadeh, Co-CEO and Co-Founder at Evident, said: “Allianz is setting the standard for AI adoption in the insurance sector as it tops the Evident AI Index for Insurance. Its strength in AI talent underpins this performance, with a talent pool that is 28% larger than the next strongest performer in the Index. Allianz is showing how talent, combined with leading innovation capabilities, translates into real world application at scale, with over 900 registered AI use cases.”
The 2026 Index highlights a significant shift in the insurance industry, from early experimentation to large-scale deployment and value creation. AI is increasingly embedded across underwriting, claims management, fraud detection, and customer interaction. Within this broader transformation, Allianz has continued to scale AI across its global operations, supported by a strong talent base, a growing innovation ecosystem, and a clear commitment to responsible and transparent AI. The report also notes the rapid acceleration of advanced use cases, particularly agentic AI systems. These autonomous AI agents execute multi-step tasks and now account for a growing share of new deployments across the industry.

A central driver of Allianz’s #1 ranking is its AI talent leadership. According to the Index, Allianz has the largest AI talent pool in the industry, 28% larger than the next competitor, enabling the company to scale over 900 AI use cases globally. This plays a critical role in driving innovation and scaling solutions across the organization.

Across the sector, demand for AI capabilities continues to grow, with AI specialists now accounting for one in every 50 roles in insurance.

Allianz’s leadership position reflects its ability to translate AI investment into tangible impact. Barbara Karuth-Zelle, Member of the Board of Management of Allianz SE, commented: “Behind this ranking are thousands of moments that matter: a claim processed faster, a customer experience reimagined, a partner better connected, a colleague freed up for what truly matters. Being ranked #1 in the Evident AI Index for Insurance reflects what we at Allianz have been building together. AI didn't change our ambition. It accelerates how we deliver on it at scale.”
While Allianz leads the 2026 ranking, the Index also shows that AI maturity is increasing across the industry, with the gap between leading insurers and fast-followers narrowing rapidly. This reflects a broader trend: AI is becoming a core capability, not a differentiator in isolation. Future leadership will require insurers to scale AI responsibly, deliver measurable business outcomes, and continuously advance their AI capabilities.
The Evident AI Index for Insurance evaluates 30 leading global insurers based on publicly available data, covering talent, innovation, leadership, and transparency. It combines manual research, automated data analysis, and expert insights to benchmark AI maturity across the sector.
