Allianz and Special Olympics Germany:

A Partnership for Unity and Inclusion

Sports have a unique ability to unite people, break down barriers, and build understanding—values that align directly with the Power of Unity. At Allianz, we believe in bringing people together to overcome societal challenges. Our Power of Unity program is designed to help individuals and organizations engage more constructively in the face of an increasingly divided world.

This commitment to unity and inclusion is at the heart of our partnership with Special Olympics Germany. By supporting athletes with intellectual disabilities, Allianz is fostering a more inclusive society for all.

Allianz's collaboration with Special Olympics Germany (SOD) is a commitment to empowering athletes and promoting an inclusive society where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

Through this partnership, we aim to provide Special Olympics athletes the platform they deserve— both on social media and through events that engage our employees. An inclusive society is a strong society.

The first international competition under this partnership will be the Special Olympics World Winter Games Turin 2025, taking place from March 8-15. A delegation of 48 athletes, five Unified Partners, and 36 coaches and support staff  will give their best at the world’s largest sports and humanitarian event.

At the heart of our partnership is the promotion of Unified Sports Teams at Special Olympics. These teams bring together athletes with and without intellectual disabilities to train and compete as equals, fostering inclusion through teamwork and shared experiences.

Unified Sports Teams create opportunities for meaningful, two-way communication, where individuals learn from one another, develop mutual respect, and break down stereotypes. This initiative not only enhances athletic performance but also strengthens social bonds and encourages understanding beyond the playing field.

"Our partners play a central role in realizing our vision: to use the power of sport to shape an inclusive society in which people with intellectual disabilities can participate actively and independently in life. We are delighted that Allianz is renewing its commitment to TeamSOD. This sends a strong signal in favor of inclusion and supporting our athletes with passion on and off the field"
- Sven Albrecht, Federal Managing Director of Special Olympics Germany

Allianz invites individuals, businesses, and communities to support the Special Olympics Movement and embrace the values of inclusion and unity. Whether through volunteering or advocacy, everyone has a role to play in creating a more inclusive society.

Join us in championing the Power of Unity. Together, we can build a future where everyone has the opportunity to participate and thrive.
