Seventh Allianz Junior Football Camp with Manuel Neuer in Munich

Allianz welcomed 75 football talents from 27 countries to the seventh Allianz Junior Football Camp (AJFC) at FC Bayern Munich’s training grounds from August 13-18, 2015. Youth coaches of the record champion trained the junior players over six days bringing them closer to their dream of becoming a football star. 75 boys and girls beat out 80,000 international candidates to earn the opportunity of a lifetime.

A highlight for the football fans was meeting their football idols. Among them Manuel Neuer, who spent time to inspire the 12 girls and 63 boys in pursuing their goals with courage and perseverance. “For me, the Allianz Junior Football Camp is about the young talent,” says Neuer. “Their enthusiasm and passion reminds me of myself at their age, and my own feverish excitement whenever I watched my role models play. The youth demonstrate impressively what really matters in football. Despite the language barriers and cultural differences they were able to build a functional team in a short time – and not only on the pitch.”

The Allianz Junior Football Camp creates strong ties among the teenagers, many of whom remain friends after they return home. This year, boys and girls trained in mixed teams, which included two deaf girls from the Netherlands. The training helped the youth improve their football skills such as dribbling, passing and ball control, learn fair play and to trust each other and improve their mental strength as a team.

Oliver Kraus , Global Sponsoring Manager at Allianz, is convinced of the wide reach of the project: “With over 400 participants selected from 330,000 applicants in the last seven years, the Allianz Junior Football Camp is one of our strongest youth development programs. The young talent from around the world gather truly extraordinary experiences here. The camp creates friendships for life and opens new doors. Thus, the program reflects the global Allianz vision that you can achieve your goals with the right team and partners.”

In addition to intensive football training and a tournament there was a varied program for the camp participants including a look behind the scenes at the Allianz Arena and attending the Bundesliga kick-off match between FC Bayern Munich and Hamburger SV at the arena.
