Allianz revolutionizes the expatriation experience

Ideally, international assignments are an exciting step in one’s career, an experience that will enhance one’s life and broaden one’s horizons. Too bad the expatriation experience is frequently marred by great amounts of red tape. Assignees have to deal with often redundant and confusing procedures, forms, documents – be it for relocation, immigration or tax purposes. And they may feel left alone with their questions, which range from choosing their new home  to choosing a school for their children. For many it is the whole family that moves to another country.
- Olaf Kliesow, Head of Rewards and Performance, Allianz SE

Besides the undoubted advantages of international assignments, as a rule expatriation itself is a stressful, cost-intensive and time-consuming business, both for the expats and HR departments. Allianz decided to address these pain points in 2021 by devising a new digital ecosystem together with provider ICUnet.Group, a platform that makes expatriation easy for the assignee, saves time and greatly increases efficiency for HR.  GoGlobal is an employee and HR portal with an associated mobile App that guides assignees though every step of their expatriation journey, reducing stress and helping them focus on their real tasks. It provides assignees with all relevant documents, contact details and information on activities, while offering full transparency on all ongoing, outstanding and completed processes. The portal even recommends places to see in the new destination. With GoGlobal, employees find everything they ever wanted to know about their assignment in one place.

To date, the feedback from our expats has been overwhelmingly positive. Allianz and ICUnet.Group have been awarded for GoGlobal this year with three gold German Stevie Awards in the categories Business Technology Solution, Special Achievements in HR and Technology Innovation of the Year*, with bronze in the category Business Technology Solution. GoGlobal has also won the German Innovation Award in the category Excellence in Business to Business - Information Technologies.

“I am very pleased that our new mobility platform GoGlobal is being perceived as a game changer by our people who embark on an international assignment and need to move to another country,” says Olaf Kliesow, Head of Rewards and Performance at Allianz SE Group HR.
