Diversity matters

Allianz ranks in the top percentile of companies with a diverse and inclusive workforce. In the latest Thomson Reuters Diversity & Inclusion Index (D&I), Allianz reached position 17 out of more than 4,000 companies assessed.

A diverse workforce and an inclusive corporate culture works wonders in many ways. It supports corporate decision-making processes by considering a broader range of views. It reflects more closely the breadth and depth of a company’s customer base. And last, but most certainly not least, it makes for better place to work: less discrimination, more equality and mutual respect.

Allianz Life US sets a strong example for gender diversity with a women’s employee resource group that has earned the company a spot among the “Working Mother 100 Best Companies” for two consecutive years.

Including people with disabilities in Allianz’s workforce and customer group has also been a group-wide goal. Through the AllAbility initiative, the company offers different opportunities for interested potential employees with disabilities to get to know the company. “One Day at Allianz”, for example, invites students and graduates to accompany an Allianz executives for one full day.

The Swiss branch of Allianz Global Assistance partners with the international foundation MyHandicap which focuses on independent living for people with disabilities. Together, they developed a range of special products tailored to the needs of people with disabilities such as travel insurance, home care insurance, or wheelchair insurance.

Allianz’s AllDive program proves the company’s open corporate culture regarding sexual identity and offers our lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender employees a working environment free from discrimination and an established network of experts for all LGBT issues within AllianzGroup.

“We are happy and proud to be among the world’s top 25 most diverse and inclusive companies. We have made progress, but there is more to be done – we are committed to continuously improve," says Jackie Hunt, Member of the Allianz SE Board of Management and the Global Diversity and Inclusion Sponsor.

The Reuters D& I index bases its ranking results on standardized data gathered from publicly available information sources such as the Allianz sustainability report and annual report, company website, and news sources. Companies are rated according to four key categories: diversity, inclusion, people development and news controversies, for example about wages or working conditions.
