Andreas Wimmer

Since 2020 Andreas Wimmer is chief executive officer of Allianz Lebensversicherungs-AG, the biggest life insurance entity in AZ Group and number 1 life insurer in Germany with more than 10 million customers and an investment portfolio worth EUR 320 billion, thereof approx. one third in alternative assets.  Andreas is a well-networked, renowned expert in the life insurance segment and in investment management who has over the years demonstrated exceptional dedication and strong leadership skills. He plays a major role in deploying state-of-the-art life insurance solutions to Allianz markets internationally and in further strengthening the synergies of life insurance and asset management solutions.
In former roles at Allianz, Andreas was in charge for corporate clients, sales, broker management as well as product development in the life insurance market. He implemented innovative investment solutions, both for retail and corporate clients in a continuous low interest environment. During his time as CEO, Allianz Leben launched extensive innovations in old-age provision: Since 2021, Allianz has put a strong focus on solutions with contemporary guarantees of 90, 80 or 60 percent of the contributions paid. This enables a more flexible capital investment and thus attractive long-term returns. In addition, Andreas Wimmer has consistently pursued the strategy of placing attractive capital market-related products in the foreground - today, every second new Allianz customer is buying one of these solutions.
In 1999 he started his career as a researcher at the institute for banking innovation in Germany. He holds a PhD. in business administration from the University of Regensburg and an MBA from Murray State University, USA.
