When words leave off, music begins.

Seven days of musical adventure are over now and ten young pianists leave the Allianz Junior Music Camp, processing the events of the last few days while floating on cloud 9… or rather on note 9! On November 7, our camp participants performed in front of an audience of 700 people, closing the fourth Allianz Junior Music Camp with a classical music concert. The young pianists played at the National Theatre in Poland and shared the stage with star pianist Lang Lang himself. Performing a solo piece with your one-of-a-kind idol is an achievement that only a few of us can cross off the bucket list. Dedication, hard work and passion is what drove our young talents and Allianz as well as the Lang Lang International Music Foundation are proud to be the helping hand that made their dreams come true.

A full concert hall, proud parents in the audience, and a broadcast of the event going around the world. Then, just before the 12 year old Dennis Orkiszewski starts to perform, silence spreads. The boy starts to play his first note and all you feel is goosebumps rising on your skin. While closing your eyes and letting yourself completely fall into the trance of this musical masterpiece, you almost can’t believe that a 12 year old can create something so touching, so powerful. At the end of the show, long applause and standing ovation made our ten musicians feel like a star on the stage, just like the one they’ve been performing with, famous pianist Lang Lang.

A truly worthy way to end the Allianz Junior Music Camp 2016 in Warsaw, Poland. For the past week Daniel (14), Defne (12), Dennis (12), KangHyun (12), Matilde (13), Max (12), Qden (12), Rhys (13), Ruizhi (9) and Shuheng (14) have been practicing on their piano skills at the renowned Fryderyk Chopin University of Music. The classes such as various cultural activities helped our youngsters flourish as individuals and as a team. Sharing their passion for music was one of the things which brought them together and sharing an experience like the AJMC might be what keeps their friendship going in the future.

The last week was filled with exciting field trips and lots of fun. Part of the camp program was for example a visit to the Chopin Museum as well as Frédéric Chopin’s birthplace in Żelazowa Wola. The trip to a polish chocolate manufacturer where the boys and girls decorated their own chocolate cakes made their tour through Warsaw even sweeter.

The Chopin Museum was also one of the places where our young musicians practiced for their performances; a place with a unique and inspiring atmosphere. However, what made the camp even more exciting for our youngsters was the visit of their favorite music idol: pianist Lang Lang. Who can tell them better stories about the life of a famous musician than him? The young pianists received valuable tips for improving their skills and even got to play the piano with their role model.

“Observing a new generation of music ambassadors, kids playing together, sharing their common passion and spreading the message of music to a wider audience makes me feel very optimistic about the future of the piano world,” says Lang Lang about his experience at the Allianz Junior Music Camp.

Nevertheless, all good things come to an end at some point and the camp is no exception.

Once again the history book of the Allianz Junior Music Camps has won another ten great young pianists and we wish them the best of luck for their future.

Allianz and the Lang Lang International Music Foundation share a common vision – to inspire the next generation of classical musicians and pass on their passion of music. That’s why we are already excited for #AJMC2017!
