Sport at the Service of Humanity Conference kicks off with Allianz support

Sport brings us together, teaches positives values and enriches our lives. The first global conference “Sport at the Service of Humanity” to be held at the Vatican from October 5 to 7 is bringing together 150 leaders, athletes and influencers to discuss how Faith and Sport can improve lives, and to launch a global movement for social change through sport.

“Sport helps youth find courage, resilience and inspiration – and to overcome barriers to social inclusion,” says Oliver Bäte, CEO of Allianz. “That’s why we strongly support this conference and the mission of the Humanity Sports Club, which will promote the transformational power of sport worldwide.”

During the event, the 150 participants will be attending plenary sessions with guest speakers and smaller working groups on the topics of Faith and Sport, Inspiration, Inclusion and Involvement. The conference’s aim is to adopt a declaration of principles that will also guide a global movement materialized by the Humanity Sports Club.

As founding partner of Sport at the Service of Humanity, Allianz is committed to supporting and amplifying the six principles established by the conference – Compassion, Respect, Love, Enlightenment, Balance and Joy – and bringing them to life in communities across the world.

“With Humanity Sports Club, Allianz has launched a digital movement designed to spread a message to the youth of the world: ‘challenge yourself in the game of life like you do in the game of sports’,” says Christian Deuringer, Director Global Brand Management. “This message is very much in line with our corporate aspiration of providing people courage to go forward in life.”

The opening ceremony to be led by Pope Francis, with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and IOC President Thomas Bach as special guests, will be starting at 3:30pm CET on October 5.
