Allianz advocates for Germany as the 44th Ryder Cup’s venue

Expansion of golf commitment: Allianz supports RC Deutschland GmbH in the application procedure for Germany becoming the venue for the Ryder Cup 2022.

Golf is a challenging sport and demands full concentration, physical fitness and continuous training. It is a lifelong journey on which every golfer develops, gains more confidence and finally achieves his goals. Allianz accompanies amateur and professional golfers on this journey for many years and now expands this commitment in 2015: The RC Deutschland GmbH applies with Bad Saarow for being the venue of the Ryder Cup 2022 and can bank on support coming from Allianz.

The Ryder Cup is the most popular golf tournament in the world and a duel of the continents: Every two years a team from America competes against a team from Europe with their respective best golf players. The winner earns fame and honor.

Dr. Christian Deuringer, Head of Global Brand Management, Allianz SE, knows that financial support is indispensable for a successful application. But he also sees another important aspect that Allianz offers: “Together with the second big partner of the German Ryder Cup application, the BMW Group, we additionally support with our longtime experience in golf sport. We use our own national and international platforms to actively promote the German Ryder Cup application and its objectives.”

Allianz is committed to golf sport since years. There are national and international partnerships with, for example, St Andrews Links, the “home of golf” in Scotland. Furthermore Allianz has existing youth sport initiatives such as the Lucky 33 tournament series in Germany. And for this year’s Solheim Cup – also known as the Ryder Cup for women – taking place in St. Leon-Rot, Allianz will be the global partner and insurer. “The support of the German application for the Ryder Cup 2022 is a consequent continuation of our active involvement and strengthens Allianz’ position as a partner for golf sport,” emphasizes Thomas Lukowsky, Director Market Management, Allianz Deutschland AG.

A strong team for the Ryder Cup in Germany

Dr. Christian Deuringer realizes a big opportunity in having the tournament in Germany: “With the application for being the venue of the 2022 Ryder Cup, Germany has the opportunity to secure one of the biggest sport events of the world. Of course, this is something that we definitely support – especially as we are able to promote the sport of golf in Allianz’ home country and make it more accessible for the public.”

The Managing Director of RC Deutschland GmbH, Marco Kaussler, also hopes for a positive decision: “We are really happy having such a strong partner like Allianz at our side. Together we can bring golf’s most important team tournament to Germany.”

The decision of which country will become the venue of the Ryder Cup 2022 will be made this autumn. Next to Germany, there are four more applicants: Italy, Spain, Portugal and Austria.

If Bad Saarow actually wins, it would be the first time having the best golf players from America and Europe playing each other in Germany during the Ryder Cup.
