Faces of climate change

Nine of the ten largest historical flood losses have occurred in the past 15 years, washing away homes and hopes of many hundred thousand and causing over EUR 90bn in economic damage. With climate change, as a result of more frequent and stronger rainfall, floods are projected to occur more often in warmer regions and in Europe. Sea level rise will mainly threaten the fast-developing coastline of East Asia and the Pacific region.

We need ambitious climate action

Beyond statistics, the consequences for people’s lives are much more difficult to quantify or put into words. But through Gideon Mendel’s camera lens we can take a personal look at the fate and courage of the ones hit hardest. Every flooded house makes a family home- and often hopeless. Therefore, we need ambitious climate action! We need solutions to put the world on track to a low-carbon and disaster-resilient future.

Allianz is encouraging these solutions. We enable the low-carbon society and provide protection from climate risks. We are a leading insurer of and investor in renewable energy. We are sharing our risk-expertise and insure flood damages around the world, to lessen the hopelessness where the homelessness could not be avoided.

The outdoor exhibition is supported by Allianz France, Allianz SE, Allianz Climate Solutions, JCDecaux and Artists for Paris and visible all over Paris last week.
