First Berlin Demography Forum discusses the challenges of demographic change

On January 12–13, 2012, the first Berlin Demography Forum will bring together industry, politics, science and civil society to promote an exchange of ideas on the topic of demographic change. The aim of the forum is to evaluate existing approaches to future challenges and to devise entirely new solutions. The 2012 event will focus on family, children and society.

The forum's initiators are the German Ministry for Family, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth and Allianz. It is an interdisciplinary platform for dialog and will be held once a year.

"The Berlin Demography Forum will fill a gap in the current discussion on this subject. Only through an interdisciplinary approach can we find ways to counter demographic changes in the long term," says Kristina Schröder, German Minster for Family, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth.

Besides Kristina Schröder, Michael Diekmann, CEO and Chairman of Allianz SE, and Hans-Peter Friedrich, German Minister of Interior Affairs, will hold a keynote speech at the forum. Additional panel discussions are planned on topics like "International Demographics and Family Policies", "Decision-points for a Family: Work, Time, Infrastructure, Integration", and "Economy, Work and Family".
