Although Allianz staff are already committed to a number of social projects, this is a new concept targeting retirees for the very first time. More than 100 former Allianz employees across Germany can now use their knowledge and experience working as volunteer jurors and coaches for these projects.
Allianz pensioners support social projects

How do Allianz pensioners feel about their volunteer work?
I was really keen on doing project work again. This is why I want to achieve great things here too, together with others, and this lunch table project offers a worthwhile opportunity. Every lunchtime immigrant children are served freshly prepared meals. Moreover, during the lunch hour the women working on the project are able to develop very important, close relationships with the children concerned, allowing them, for instance, to intervene at school, when one of the children was being bullied.
I was able to help with defining the structure of the association, with revising presentation material and with setting mid-term targets. And I also helped the other women grate carrots for lunch.

I don't want my mind to become idle. I want to remain mentally active and continue to challenge myself. I find it beneficial to see how dedicated all the project members are. This is why I enjoyed going there once a week.
Thanks to my professional experience I was able to help with the structural setup of the association, with allocating responsibilities, developing a meeting and discussion culture and reconciling the varied offerings of the association with its existing budget.

The project allows me get to know many young people, aged 18 to 25. Since I do not have any children of my own, this is something I particularly enjoy. I like to see how open-minded the young people are and I am particularly impressed with their thorough approach - their project plan was flawless.
I would wholeheartedly recommend working for startsocial to my Allianz colleagues. Volunteering is extremely fulfilling. Once my current project comes to an end, I will start on the next one right away.
