Allianz brings renowned ‘Digital Insurance Agenda’ summit to Munich

Munich will play host to the renowned Digital Insurance Agenda (DIA) for the first time through the efforts of Allianz, one of the driving forces behind the new InsurTech Hub Munich consortium. The must-see event on InsurTech and innovation will take place on November 15 and 16, 2017 at the Eisbach Studios.

The DIA is the biggest InsurTech conference and it sets the stage for the most important digital developments in the years to come. More than 50 of the world's most innovative new technology providers showcase their latest disruptive solutions to the global insurance audience in fast-paced 10-minute ‘TED-style’ presentations. DIA Amsterdam, held earlier this year, was sold out. It welcomed an audience of more than 850 decision makers from 40 countries on six continents. A large number of C-level executives as well as investors, analysts and press members are expected to attend the Munich event.

Allianz founded the InsurTech Hub together with 12 insurance companies from Bavaria on July 20, 2017. The goal of the Hub is to actively shape digital transformation and make Munich an attractive location for promising international startups, while strengthening Munich’s leadership in digitalizing insurance. The InsurTech Hub Board is led by five insurers, including Allianz as the deputy head of the board.

The DIA summit will be the second event organized by the Hub within a few weeks – and more announcements are to come. For example, Allianz is in discussion with Plug and Play, the world's largest startup accelerator and open innovation platform, to win them as partner for InsurTech Hub Munich.

“The InsurTech Hub Munich initiative is a priority for us as well as for the city of Munich, so that we remain globally competitive,” said Joerg Richtsfeld, Board Member of InsurTech Hub Munich for Allianz SE. “We are pleased that Allianz is able to collaborate with regional and international insurers and technology providers to invest in the future of our business.” “Starting from our early involvement with regional initiatives and partners, we are now advancing to a truly international vision, which will enable further learning opportunities for both startups and successful market players in Munich,” said Alexander Lührig, Head of Strategy & Growth at Allianz Deutschland. “We are thrilled to be a part of that.”

Allianz has invested in leading digital startups since 2013, and its venture unit Allianz X GmbH is continuing to invest in early and later stage startups that have the potential to become the next market leaders. Several Allianz Group entities support the InsurTech Hub and are strong partners for the association.
