Mondial Assistance named top 100 IT company

"This year's CIO 100 awards draws well-deserved attention to companies that are both innovating and creating business value with IT despite the economic downturn," said Maryfran Johnson, editor in chief of CIO Magazine. "These winners are an inspiration to businesses everywhere."

Mondial Assistance received the award for its leading-edge deployment of a Computer Telephone Integration (CTI) system for a key client. Faced with both an immediate need and a significant investment required to create the system inhouse, Mondial elected to use 'software as a service' provided by a third-party vendor. Utilization of software as a service-reduced investment costs by 50 percent and added extensive technical support that would not have otherwise been possible. Mondial Assistance was recognized for its innovative approach to this technology challenge.

"The focus of our business is on providing outstanding service to our customers, and while we maintain a decidedly human touch to all that we do, the foundation of this service is technology," said Deborah Cassidy, chief information officer with Mondial Assistance (www.mondialUSA.com). "Our commitment to harnessing the latest technology enables us to work more efficiently to help meet our customers' varied needs. We are proud of these efforts and delighted to be named among the nation’s IT elite."

The 2009 CIO 100 awards will be presented at the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, Colorado, on August 25 at the conclusion of the 11th annual CIO 100 Symposium® and Awards Ceremony.

The recipients of this year's CIO 100 award were selected through a three-step process. First, companies filled out an online application form detailing their innovative practices in both business and IT. Next, a team of judges reviewed the applications in depth, looking for unique practices and substantial results. Finally, CIO editors reviewed the judges' recommendations and voted on the final 100.

Complete coverage of the 2009 CIO 100 awards is online at www.cio.com and in the August 1 issue of CIO magazine.
