Allianz subsidiary Fireman’s Fund is deploying its mobile workforce of experienced catastrophe experts to assist policyholders and conduct inspections of damaged homes, businesses and other property.

"We are reaching out to our customers through social media, text messages, and mobile apps. Our dedicated claims professionals are already in the area to assist with housing, claims reports and inspections of damaged homes and businesses," said Paul Stachura, chief claims and risk services officer.  "Our claims team and independent agents are working around the clock to help our customers rebuild and return to their normal lives as quickly as possible."

Many of the claims from Sandy will be coming from damaged property from falling trees or debris. Since many of the affected areas are flooded, property owners and claims adjusters will have to wait until the water recedes. Until that happens, quick assistance is being offered to clients on an individual basis.

As Sandy will likely continue to disrupt business continuity and communication for a few days, Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS), the industrial insurer of Allianz, is also working closely with its clients to help them manage their situation.
“We want to reach out and wish our brokers and clients a speedy and complete recovery,” says Jack Russell, Senior Vice President at Distribution & Market Management of AGCS.

Most offices, including those of Allianz, are reopening on Wednesday. Public transport is partially resuming its service, airports are reopening, and the New York Stock Exchange will also be open again on Wednesday.

“We were impressed by the large amount of preparation that was done in the US,” says Clement B. Booth, member of the Board of Management of Allianz SE. “With a hurricane, which can be predicted, a lot can be done ahead of time to minimize the damage. We encouraged our clients to take precautions.”
