Allianz Italy insures first scooter sharing service in Milan

While Germans may swear by their cars, Italians would much rather speed through the urban jungle on their scooters. Together with energy group Eni, Allianz SpA – under the leadership of Klaus-Peter Röhler – contributed in launching first scooter sharing service ever to be offered in the fashion center of Milan.

For many, rattling Vespas weaving through crowded streets are as evocative of Italy’s city traffic as are its honking cars and vocal drivers. Now, Italian car sharing service Eni-Enjoy working in partnership with Allianz SpA has added scooters to its already existing fleet of cars. It’s the first of its kind. The new fleet of 150 red Piaggio MP3 scooters was recently presented at the Palazzo Reale in Milan.

Allianz SpA partnered with Octo Telematics, an insurance telematics service provider, to develop an integrated technical solution that facilitates the unique insurance demands of the scooter sharing service. In the case of an accident, video cameras mounted on the front and back of the scooter record the ten seconds prior to and following the event. Taping the sequence of events not only improves transparency, it also speeds up the time it takes to settle claims. “Allianz SpA stands out in the insurance industry as a pioneer in innovation and digitalization,” says Andrea Costa, Head of Motor Insurance. “The solution we found is the first of its kind in Europe.”

Allianz SpA-provides Eni-Enjoy with comprehensive vehicle insurance, which includes third-party liability, fire and theft insurance, collision damage insurance, vandalism insurance and personal accident insurance.
