Allianz' first company logo features clear analogies to the German imperial eagle. The eagle bears the emblems of the two cities in which the company was founded, Munich and Berlin.
In 1923 the imperial eagle was replaced with the Allianz eagle, designed by Karl Schulpig. After various drafts which experiment with the letter "A", a stylized eagle with three young eagles was chosen. They symbolize the subsidiaries.
The Allianz eagle was introduced at the same time as the company's legal status was changed to the 'Allianz Group'. It stands for the company's dynamic fusion policy.
The Allianz eagle has been visible in its modern form since 1977. Hans Jörg Dorschel put the eagle inside a circle and softened its lines. As part of the first comprehensive overhaul, the new logo is intended to lend a unified appearance to the Group - both internally and externally.
Allianz made the big step into the new millennium with a more sophisticated logo which combines tradition and modernity. The logo evokes mental associations - the trusted eagle and Allianz' three key fields of business: insurance, retirement provision and assets.
In 2015 Allianz celebrated the 125th anniversary of the company. Allianz was founded in 1890 in Berlin and Munich. On these pages, you can find out everything about the most important steps and milestones in the development of our long corporate history.
From Specialist to Chairwoman of the Board of Management: women occupy all roles at Allianz. That was not always the case: since the first female employees were hired in 1914, the role of women has changed to an enormous extent - and not just within the company.
