Securing the future means acting sustainably

As the world’s leading insurer responsibility runs in our veins. To secure the future for our customers and business partners it is in our best interest to prevent climate change and natural disasters. Because they obviously harm people’s lives and wallets. And it is linked to our business model – we collect money and have the power and the duty to invest it in the most effective way: in a sustainable better tomorrow.
Sustainability enjoys great attention in our minds all the time. And sometimes we also let the outside world know what steps we have taken.
Oliver Bäte, CEO, Chairman of the Board of Management of Allianz SE

The role of a leading insurance company is not just managing risks in our personal lives, but protecting us from the economic consequences of the global risks that threaten society, explains Allianz CEO Oliver Bäte in a frank, in-depth discussion with Charles Trevail, Global CEO of Interbrand. Trevail's Podcast Outside In explores how the world is changing and how business is changing with it. A great opportunity to explain our idea of and action on sustainability.

We are beyond proud. In the latest Dow Jones Sustainability Index we achieved the top position of all +125 rated insurance companies. With 93 points, we rank well above the average sector in the world's most recognizable sustainability index.

For us, that is no reason to rest. But to do even more and increase the effort. Because the world needs to be prepared for tomorrow.

300 millions tons of plastic waste are produced each year. And it’s a severe threat to our oceans and seas. Because all life on earth depends on these important ecosystems, action is urgently needed.

As a Sea Shepherd partner and supporter, we take action. Together we help fight against plastic pollution to protect the world’s oceans and marine wildlife, with our employees getting their hands dirty on board the Sea Eagle. For cleaner oceans.

The Allianz SE board member is one of 16 experts who will form the United Nations High-Level Expert Group on the Net-Zero Commitments of Non-State Entities, announced by UN Secretary-General António Guterres in April 2022.

It’s about time that we take it into our hands to accelerate climate action.

For us sustainability is not a nice label we want to achieve.

It’s something we act on every day.

In every corner of the world, in large and small.
