Internationality of the Board of Management

As a globally operating company with customers all over the world, we rely on cultural diversity and internationality.

We are convinced of the extraordinary importance of a diverse workforce. In our view, the success of our global business depends in large part on employing people from different backgrounds who bring different perspectives and approaches to our business.

Allianz serves customers in over 70 countries worldwide. In order to live up to this claim, the composition of employees is becoming more and more international. At the end of 2019, about 1,200 employees from 72 different nationalities were employed at the head office in Munich.

This internationality and diversity of cultures is also reflected in our Board of Management: Germany is represented most frequently by three German Board members (Oliver Bäte, Dr. Klaus-Peter Röhler, Renate Wagner), followed by Austria (Dr. Christoph Mascher, Dr. Günther Thallinger) and Italy (Sergio Balbinot, Giulio Terzariol), and one member respectively with Spanish (Ivan de la Sota), British and New Zealand (Jacqueline Hunt) and Australian (Niran Peiris) nationality.

The corporate language is English, yet most of our board members speak fluent German. This enables them, for example, to address the concerns of our predominantly German shareholders in their native language at the Annual General Meeting.
