Allianz operates in several countries in Africa. In Egypt, Allianz is represented through Allianz Egypt which specializes in the fields of general and life insurance. In 2003, the company experienced growth in excess of 400 % and was ranked fourth in the market for new sales. Allianz has a further presence in Egypt and Africa through its acquisition of Assurances Générales de France (AGF) in 1997. The AGF Group is a major player in insurance and financial services and is present in Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Central Africa, Senegal, Togo and Egypt. AGF’s strongest business field is in life insurance, followed by car and fire insurance. The company is continually experiencing strong growth in the region.
