The entry of the countries of Central & Eastern Europe into the European Union opened up a whole new world of opportunities for the people and its successful businesses to prosper from the access to a much wider market in Europe and beyond.

In 1989 Allianz established a presence for the first time in Central & Eastern Europe by taking over the state-run insurance company Hungaria Biztosito in Hungary. Today, Allianz is represented in 14 countries in Central & Eastern Europe and is the largest international insurer in this region.
