Ida Rosida lives in a village south of Jakarta. Together with her daughter, she had taken up a loan of almost 100 euros to buy a fridge for their beverages kiosk, plus the Allianz microinsurance "Payung Keluarga" ("family umbrella") for less than 40 cents. After her daughter's sudden death, Allianz paid off the loan and paid out another 100 euros to Ida.
More than 30,000 Indonesians already had microinsurance with Allianz Life Indonesia by summer 2007. The policies are sold via experienced microfinance partners. CEO Jens Reisch and Allianz SE executive board member Werner Zedelius explain the offer's motives and goals.
