Delivering fast help in tense situations, offering practical risk-management support and providing expertise when analyzing unusual potential hazards provide the kind of value that retains customers over the long term.

Fireman's Fund has a 150-year heritage of delivering innovative solutions that help policyholders prepare for and deal with all kinds of disasters. CEO Joe Beneducci explains, "We believe the best insurance is to try to prevent a loss from happening in the first place, and we work with our customers to identify and reduce avoidable risks. Still, we know that the unforeseen sometimes happens, and that’s why Fireman’s Fund is also a leader in making sure customers have the best coverage for their personal or business situation, and the support of outstanding claims professionals whenever the need arises."

Examples of Fireman’s Fund customer-centric solutions include helping customers to recover losses caused by a cancelled wedding, or to protect their homes against wildfires. Fireman's Fund also offers special underwriting and loss control advice to the film industry.
Anyone could have a change of heart
A wedding day is always a special occasion. But if something goes wrong, it could end up costing a fortune. A new feature to the wedding insurance policy by Fireman's Fund offers innocent parties, such as the parents of the bride, protection against financial losses caused by a change of heart.

Suitably called "change of heart coverage", Fireman's Fund's "Weddingsurance" policy is the first insurance product of its kind in the US to cover the expenses if the bride or groom backs down from a planned wedding. Customers can tailor their wedding policies to cover the costs of lost deposits, cancellations, inclement weather, spoiled photographs, or theft and damage to attire, gifts and rental property. They can even elect to insure themselves for professional counseling that may be needed after the emotional distress of a cancelled event.
Precautions against California wildfires
Since the threat of wildfires in California is growing, Fireman's Fund's "Risk Management Advisory Services" division offers local policyholders expert advice on reducing the threat of wildfires and protecting homes from fires.

To help policyholders take precautions, Fireman's Fund has formed an alliance with FireProtec, an external partner. FireProtec offers a vegetation removal service to create a defensible space around homes in especially threatened locations. In case of disputes with neighbors, FireProtec also works with the California Department of Forestry to negotiate the clearing of the area.

Keeping the action on the screen
Movies are full of spectacular scenes and stunts. If something goes wrong during filming, however, the consequences can be grave. Fireman's Fund has 80 years of experience supporting Hollywood film productions by analyzing risks and finding solutions to cover specific exposures.  Each movie presents new challenges to the underwriters and loss control experts of Fireman's Fund Entertainment division.

For films of this summer's movie season,  Fireman's Fund Entertainment team dealt with various scenarios, including the ark of animals in "Evan Almighty" running amok on the studio grounds, and potential injuries to star actors while shooting physically demanding scenes in "Spiderman 3."
The filming of "The Bourne Ultimatum" at several international locations presented a wide range of health and medical issues for the film crew, as well as transportation concerns for the equipment and film negatives. Careful consideration was needed for the custom-made costumes used in "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix."
