Allianz and Dresdner Bank sign up to "Diversity Charter"
Companies that sign the charter commit themselves to promoting diversity and stamping out prejudice.
On December 5, 2007, Allianz and Dresdner Bank signed up to the "Charta der Vielfalt" (Diversity Charter) initiative for companies in Germany, of which Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel is the patron. As a signatory, the Allianz Group commits itself to continuing to promote diversity within the company and to creating a working environment in which there is absolutely no room for prejudice.

Increase diversity and equality
Ulrich Schumacher, head of Human Resources at Allianz Deutschland AG, sees signing the charter as sending a clear message that Allianz wants to increase diversity and equality within the company. "We value the diverse strengths and experiences of our employees, whatever their gender, age, ethnic origin, religion, world view, or sexual orientation, and whether they be disabled or able-bodied," he says.
For many years now, promoting equality has been a key part of HR policy at Allianz and Dresdner Bank. "Our employees' different abilities and talents are the most valuable capital we have with which to respond to future challenges," says Wulf Meier, head of HR at Dresdner Bank. "Diversity is the prerequisite for innovation and growth, and it is essential in business."

Training and international standards
To promote an open corporate culture, Allianz and Dresdner Bank have introduced a web-based "Diversity" training program. The Allianz "Leadership Values" act as a guide to managers and as a support to them in developing a culture of diversity. In addition, Group's Code of Conduct contains clear guidelines on equality for all employees. 2006 also saw the creation of an international project group to deal with Diversity issues in the company.
