AGF Seguros Brasil celebrates a hundred years
Allianz AG board member Jan Carendi and AGF chairman and CEO Jean-Philippe Thierry visited Brazil on the occasion of AGF Seguros' centennial celebration. The managers see Brazil as a key country for Allianz Group's corporate business activities in Latin America.
AGF Seguros has ended its centennial celebration with a visit by Jan Carendi, Allianz AG board member responsible for the Americas, and Jean-Philippe Thierry, chairman and CEO of the AGF Group. During their visit to the Brazilian subsidiary, they emphasized Brazil's importance for Allianz Group's corporate business in Latin America.

"Brazil is a very interesting emerging country", said Carendi. At the ceremony, he highlighted the good economic basis Brazil is enjoying, including a surge in the economy, inflation under control, a favorable trade balance and a stable policy.
"There is no doubt that Brazil will be more and more in the foreground as far as the world economy is concerned. Moreover, we believe that AGF Brasil is well prepared for the future, offers the appropriate products to win-over the Brazilian public and will defend a position among the top companies of the sector", Carendi added.
AGF CEO Jean-Philippe Thierry also expressed his commitment to the Latin American market including Brazil. "We have a long history in the region and are committed to the development of the countries we operate in," Thierry said.

Today, AGF Seguros holds a prominent position in its segment and a turnover of more than one billion Brazilian reais per year (about 345 million euros). To celebrate its centennial in Brazil, AGF Seguros hosted a series of events in 15 Brazilian cities with a total attendance of 8,000.

AGF Seguros was founded in Rio de Janeiro on November 26, 1904 as "Companhia de Seguros Terrestres e Marítimos Brasil". In 1929, the French insurance group AGF acquired a majority stake in the company and moved it to Sao Paulo, Brazil's financial and economic center.
When the workers' compensation line was nationalized in 1966, the company began exploring new segments such as governmental assets and industrial risk insurance. By the 1970s, AGF Seguros was one of the country's largest insurers.
