The Allianz SE Board of Directors, chaired by Michael Diekmann, has appointed Vicente Tardío Regional CEO for the Iberian Peninsula and South America. This new position comes in addition to his current responsibilities as Chairman and CEO of Allianz Seguros in Spain.

The Allianz Group insurance companies in Spain, Portugal, Argentina, Brazil and Colombia from now on will be under Vicente Tardío’s responsibility.

Vicente Tardío: "The main objective is to coordinate and bring together improvement procedures in the different companies of these five countries, always respecting the features of national markets where we operate, while maintaining a spirit of optimization and synergies among the different members.

This is what Allianz has been doing during these last years through various initiatives such as Sustainability, Customer Focus, and Operational Excellence. Allianz Seguros has contributed very actively to all these initiatives to turn best practices into common practice, and will now assume a more leading role in this newly-established region."

In 2006, the five Allianz companies in the region achieved a total premium income of 3,932 million euros, 67 percent of which was in Spain. Total operating profit was 453 million euros in 2006, 76 percent came from the Spanish companies. Of 5,300 employees in the region, 44 percent are based in Spain.

Vicente Tardío was born in Barcelona in 1947. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and actuarial science. His professional career started in 1971 in the insurance sector. He was member of the management of Banco Vitalicio and General Director of Seguros Cervantes. In 1989 he joined Allianz as CEO for Adriática and Cresa, later he became CEO of Allianz RAS in Spain. He has been CEO of Allianz Seguros since 1999 and chairman of the company since 2006.
